Arkeologstigen is a hiking trail south of the village Jävre. The Solander Trail runs partway along with it, past many fine examples of how the last ice age and the post-glacial rebound that followed have shaped the landscape.   vFromm the top of the mountain Högberget you can see all the way to the archipelago, where the islands are still slowly rising from the sea.

Eliasleden outside the village of Svensbyn was prior to the addition of the Solander Trail the longest hiking trail in Piteå Municipality and is well worth exploring. Here you find the famed Elias Cave, fine fishing lakes surrounded by fireplaces and many peaks with resting spots at the top. Maps and more information about the Elias Trail are found here, and on the this map you can see how it’s located both separately and in relation to the Solander Trail.

Hemträsket, Hemmingsmark is a wetland just outside the village of Hemmingsmark. The lake was lowered to create more room for haymaking but have been restored by the villagers and is now a haven for birdlife. A bird matching tower can be found on the southern side.

Kallaxheden is a nature preserve in the municipality of Luleå. The reserve is largely made up of the sandy pine mooors that line a lot of the northern coastline of Sweden. Kallaxheden is a reserve to protect among other thing the ground-growing lichen that is very important as reindeer winter grazing. Stick to the existing paths when hiking and walkig! Remember: in a nature preserve the Right of Public Access have restrictions.

Lustgården ("The Garden of Eden") is a nature preserve in the municipality of Piteå. The reserve is largely made up of second growth forest that returned once the overlogging of the first industrial era had swept the area. Remember: in a nature preserve the Right of Public Access have restrictions. In Lustgården, as an example, no dead  firewood may be gathered from nature and tents only erected in designated spots! Lustgården is located on the orange section.

The Piteå River is more than 400 km long from its headwaters among the glaciers of the Sulitelma massif down to the edge of the Bothnian Bay. Along the approximate 20 km the Solander Trail brings you into contact with you can paddle and fish, bathe, scout for beavers and watch how the remains of the log-driving era slowly vanish as nature reclaims the land. Further upstream in the municipality of Älvsbyn is one of Swedish Laplands most popular places to visit, the "Grand Rapids" Storforsen.

Rosfors Bruk is a nature preserve in the municipality of Piteå. The reserve houses not only the old ironworks, but very ecologically varied landcape made up of regrown forest and farmland. Remember: in a nature preserve the Right of Public Access have restrictions. Among other things, in Rosfors Bruk fire cannot be made except in designated spots and no dead  firewood may be gathered from nature!

Rosfors Ekopark is a nature area set aside by the state owned forestry company to be partly preserved, partly harvested in a responsible manner. The Solander Trail takes you through a large part of the park. There is more information available from the company, Sveaskog.

Vallen by the Svensby Stream is reached by making a southward detour along Road 501 where the Solander Trail/Östra Lidenvägen crosses it. After a little more than a kilometer you will see Vallen at the left side of the road. The old mill siteshows how nature has reclaimed a spot that was home to a milling operation much like the one reconstructed at nearby Swensbylijda outdoor museum.
Vallen is located about 1,2 km from the green section on Road 501.
